Epine - October 4th, 2008

I miss Europe. A lot. I was just looking at Tarek's Facebook and remembering how much I miss the little things like the red roofs on peoples' houses and drinking good beer on tap rather than sneaking rat beer like Blue Moon at Apple Bee's. The thought of studying in Poland crossed my mind.. They teach in English at Uniwersytet Warszawski, but I don't think I could spend the rest of my life paying for water in restaurants and traveling by metro. Plus they don't even have any good programs I would be interested in.

How cool would it be to study in another country and fluently learn another language? Just like Justin did.. I don't think I could leave my friends and family behind for that long, but I want to live and be a part of another culture so badly. I'm just stuck here knowing there's a big and beautiful world out there and I want to get back to it.

I wish my parents were willing to spend 7 grand on a study abroad program to Spain or Italy. It feels so out of reach.

I just finished watching Schindler's List. The end where all the survivors from the real life event and the actors that played them in the movie put rocks on the real Oskar Schindler's grave just killed me. It was so odd seeing Auschwitz - Birkenau on film and knowing I was standing in that tower less than three months ago.
